ALLIED PROJECTS

Libraries:

Room to Read USA has agreed to join hands with Rotary in its School Awakening Project and has undertaken to equip the libraries in all 25 schools being rebuilt by Rotary.

Room to Read will establish a child-friendly learning environment by supplying furniture, maps and posters, educational games and puzzles, English Children’s books and local language children’s books. They will also do training workshops for teachers and librarians.

Science Laboratories:

We are looking out for sponsors to undertake the equipping of Three Senior Science Laboratories and Nine Junior Science Rooms for the Senior and Junior Schools.

Gymnasiums:

We need sponsors for around seven Gymnasiums and ten indoor Sports Centres for the Schools.

Computer Hardware:

We require approximately 500 computers to set up computer training facilities in all the schools. We are presently negotiating with several parties both locally and overseas and would welcome any assistance in this field.

Solar power:

Some of the schools do not even have access to electricity and we intend to provide them with Solar Power. We welcome companies dealing in Solar Power generation to join with us in this worthy cause.

Public Address Systems:

Pan Audio Limited – Sri Lanka have indicated their interest in providing the Public Address systems for all 25 schools.

Clean Drinking Water:

A source of clean drinking water is a dire need in some of the schools.

Drainage & Sanitation:

The International Red Cross has indicated their interest in undertaking the provision of a proper sewerage system for all 25 schools.

Rainwater harvesting systems:

We intend to provide every school with a rainwater harvesting system and welcome sponsors and expertise in these areas.

There are many other projects allied to the Schools Reawakening initiative of Rotary Sri Lanka that would suit some Sponsors with specialist expertise in these areas. Those of you who would like to sponsor some of the projects listed above or would like to suggest similar initiatives are invited to contact us by email.
