Message from
District Governor / Co Chairman

My dear fellow Rotarians,

The last ten days has been one of frenetic activity among most Sri Lankans as our nation struggled to cope with the huge task of providing emergency relief to the victims of the Tsunami tragedy.

I am extremely proud to note that each and every Rotarian in our district rallied round in true Rotary spirit with offers of assistance in numerous ways.

Our first priority was to ensure that the victims received emergency relief on an urgent basis and many clubs were seen rushing to all parts of the country with Food, Water, Shelter and Clothing for the victims.

The first phase of the relief operation is now over and it is time to think of long term solutions for the victims. It is with this in mind that we set up the District Task Force to ensure that Rotary provided a cohesive and comprehensive package of humanitarian relief.

Our District is now looking at the long term assistance required to help rebuild our country.

We are hoping to concentrate on one key aspect of the rebuilding and reconstruction process and play a leading role in this venture. Senior members of our Task Force our involved in negotiations with government leaders to ascertain the best possible response ROTARY can provide.
