Rotary Sri Lanka Schools Website records One Million hits

Our website reached a truly significant milestone during the month of April recording more than one million hits since it went online in January 2005.

Based on a simple philosophy of being as transparent as possible the website has received international acclaim for its creativity and presentation of what is easily the largest ever project undertaken by a single district in Rotary. The website has given us the opportunity to make optimum use of modern technology and reach out to every corner of the world.

PRIPs Frank Devlin and Luis Giay and RIPE Bill Boyd have all commended the breadth of information available on the website and many overseas sponsors have also done so.

Ever since the tsunami of December 2004, Rotary Sri Lanka has been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement it has received from fellow Rotarians and others throughout the world. Many of them have never visited Sri Lanka but yet contributed willingly to our cause.

An especially heartening fact for us is that most of the hits recorded on the website have originated from overseas centres. Overall people from more than forty countries have viewed the website with the largest hits coming from the US and UK where the majority of our sponsors live. We are now averaging over 75,000-80,000 ‘hits’ per month.
