Monument

The Apex Committee has decided to erect a special monument in every school rebuilt by Rotary Sri Lanka.

The monument features three schoolchildren in different poses one on her knees and the other two slowly rising up again with smiles on their faces holding on to books and a pencil. The message is simple – you can knock us down but you cannot destroy our spirits and we will rise again stronger than before.

The specially commissioned monument will have a threefold dedication.

The monument will be in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the tsunami, in celebration of those who survived; and in gratitude to those special people who helped build the new school.

All major sponsors of the school will be acknowledged on a special plaque at the base of the monument.
