The two main buildings which were earlier demolished have now been rebuilt as brand new facilities.

Restoration of demolished blocks progressing well. Target completion date mid September.

15th July 2006:
Owing to the hostile local atmosphere in the area which hampered our work the Apex Committee has decided to restrict work only to the restoration of demolished structures.

15th May 2006:
Attitude of School Development Society is a stumbling block in all negotiations. Apex Committee likely to withdraw from school.

30th April 2006:
Work continues to be suspended. Apex Committee have given ultimatum to MoE to resolve all issues by 15th May or risk pull out by Rotary.

7th April 2006:
The construction site will be closed for the period 8-20 April for the local New Year holidays. Next update will be as at 30th April 2006.

31st Mar 2006:
Work continues to be suspended. Independent inspection not possible due to agitation by villagers and interested parties.

15th Mar 2006:
Work continues to be suspended. Contractor advised to install security as outsiders attempting to sabotage existing work prior to inspection by joint team.

28th Feb 2006:
Work is suspended pending joint visit by Project and MoE staff to conduct site inspection.

15th Feb 2006:
Work temporarily suspended pending inspection by MoE Engineer. MoE requested for enhanced supervision of site.

31st Jan 2006:
General unrest in the vicinity has hampered construction work somewhat. Improvements to bldgs 'Mullai' and 'Kurunchi' in progress.

15th Jan 2006:
Construction work has commenced and is progressing satisfactorily.

31st Dec 2005:
Workforce is presently engaged in demolition work and clearing of site. Construction work expected to commence in first week of January 2006. Target completion date 31st Oct 2006.

15th Dec 2005:
LoA issued in first week of December. Mobilisation of workforce has been delayed slightly owing to civil unrest in area.

30th Nov 2005:
All paperwork finally complete. Expect mobilisation of workforce and construction work to commence by mid December.

15th Nov 2005:
Issue of LoA delayed slightly due to ongoing negotiations with contractor. Expect award to be issued and construction to commence by end November.

31st Oct 2005:
All paperwork now complete. Expect award of tender and mobilisation of workforce to commence by third week November after Presidential elections.

15th Oct 2005:
MoE have recommended some minor changes to the structural drawings. These amendments should be completed and construction work is expected to commence by end October.

30th Sep 2005:
Finalisation of tender delayed unexpectedly. Intend to finalise by mid October and lay foundation stone.

15th Sep 2005:
New drawings submitted to MoE for approval. Expect to start tender process and finalise award by end September.

31 August 2005:
Construction work delayed due to problems with architect. New architect on board and expect work to begin by end September.

15 August 2005:
Paperwork delayed by architect. Services of a new architect sought to complete all paperwork by end August.

31 July 2005:
Paperwork from architect/contractor has been futher delayed.

30 June 2005:
Await final drawings/estimate from architect/contractor. Expect to award contract in mid July.

21 April 2005:
Preliminary designs and estimates have been forwarded to the Apex Committee for evaluation and award of contract.

7 Feb 2005:
Work has begun to clean out school premises and make preliminary inspections.
Expect to have initial estimates and BOQ’s in hand by last week February.
