29th February 200:
The new school was declared open on 19th February in a colourful ceremony. Trustee Rotary Foundation Carolyn Jones was the Chief Guest and RI Director Paul Netzel the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
31st January 2008:
All work is now fully complete and the school is ready to be ceremonially opened on 19th February 2008.
31st December 2007:
All construction work is now complete and workforce is busy with landscaping and finishing touches to boundary wall. New School will be ceremonially opened on 19th Feb 2008.
30th November 2007:
Construction is now complete. Extra work continues on the boundary wall which is also 50% done.
31st October 2007:
Progress continues at a commendable rate and now 90% of construction work is complete. Main Admin Blk, 2 classroom blks and principal's qtrs 100% complete.
31st August 2007:
All construction work is now complete. Apex Committee mulling over construction of boundary wall around the school for greater security. Await estimates from contractor for this extra work.
15th August 2007:
Work on the school is almost complete and contractor has done an admirable job in very short time. Quality of work is also outstanding. Expect school to be ready by end August 2007.
15th July 2007:
Work is now in the final phase with almost 95% of the construction complete. Workforce now engaged in painting/finishing work. Target completion date is end.

30 April 2007:
Extremely good progress despite safety issues for Sinhala labour. Contractor confident of completing school by mid July. About 30% of workforce is Sinhala but Contractor says he has made arrangements to ensure work pace does not reduce.
07 April 2007:
Site will be closed from 8-23 April for the local New Year holidays. Next Progress report will be on 30th April 2007.

Progress of work has slowed down considerably after Sinhala labour staff withdrew following safety concerns. Expect pace to pick up after local New Year holidays.
28th February 2007::
Work continues at a good pace. Bk work in progress in Principal & Staff Qtrs, Toilet Blks- 1&2, Admin. Blk., Primary & Secondary Blks and laboratory. Overall 20% of the entire construction is complete.
15th February 2007::
Work is progressing at a fair pace and with full complement of workforce. Principal’s Qtrs, Staff Qtrs, Admin. Blk. - all foundations 100% complete and bk wk in progress.
31st Dec 2006:
Work is progressing at a steady rate and full complement of workforce is now at site.Principal’s Quarters, Teacher’s Quarters,Toilet Blk- 1, Admin. Blk.,Laboratory- Foundations 100% complete.
30th Nov 2006:
Work is progressing smoothly and on schedule. Project staff visited site and note that all foundations have been completed.
15th Nov 2006:
Work force has now settled down into steady routine and progress is reasonable. Project staff will visit site in last week of November for inspection of work.
31st Oct 2006:
Work has now commenced in earnest and foundation work is in progress. Contractor confident of completing work on schedule.
15th Oct 2006:
Full workforce now mobilised at site. Site has been cleared and prepared for work. Setting out of three bldgs completed. Workers now digging well for water supply.

Foundation stone laid on 30th September and commencement of work scheduled for first week of October.

7 Feb 2005:
This is one of the schools that was totally destroyed by the tsunami and has to be relocated owing to its close proximity to the sea. Negotiations are presently underway with relevant Government officials and the Ministry of Education to identify a suitable block of land on which to relocate the school. If any state land is available progress will be faster than if private land has to be acquired by the state for this purpose. |
