PROGRESS REPORTS
30th April 2008:
The ceremonial opening of the new school took place on 25th April 2008 with the overseas sponsors in attendance. The entire village turned out to join in the event.

31st March 2008:
All work on the new school is now complete with only some landscaping to be completed. We await confirmation from our overseas sponsors on a suitable date for the ceremonial opening.

29th February 200:
The construction work is now almost complete and the workforce is busy with the finishing touches to the buildings. Overall 95% completed. painting work in progress.

31st January 2008:
Work is progressing steadily and the new school is expected to be ready by end March 2008.

31st December 2007:
Progress of work continues slowly and steadily although with a reduced workforce. Approximately 75% of the construction work is now complete.

30th November 2007:
Site continues to make a slow but steady progress with a limited workforce. Overall 70% of work is complete.

31st October 2007:
Workpace is very slow owing to reduced workforce. Expect full complement of workforce next month to speed up the pace. Target end date is 31st March 2008.

15th June 2007:
No progress at all in the last few weeks except for the 1st flr slab concrete.

15th May 2007:
Work is progressing very slowly. 70’X25’ Block –Painting-85%, , Assembly Hall- Plaster-100% , Doors & windows-50%, Qtrs- Doors & windows-90%; Elec. Works-95% Boundary Wall-95% complete. 130’X30’X3Stry Blg.- G.F. Bk. Wk-100%, 1st Fl. Shuttering-20%

30 April 2007:
reduced workforce still in operation at site. Expect increased staff after local Vesak holidays.

Site will be closed from 8-23 April for the local New Year holidays. Next Progress report will be on 30th April 2007.

Contractor has agreed to recommence work with full complement of workforce after local new year holidays.

Meeting fixed for first week March to expedite work and set target completion date.

15th Feb 2007:
Work pace has slowed down considerably and is not at all satisfactory. Apex Comm to meet with Contractor/Lead Club to resolve any issues.

30th Nov 2006:
Despite many assurances from the Contractor the work pace continues to be very slow. Project staff visited site and urged workers to increase their work pace.

15th Nov 2006:
Progress is still slow and behind schedule. Very little progress in all areas. 70' x 25' Blk - Plaster & cement render roof level - 100%. Assembly Hall roof - 100%, Plaster - 80%. Qtrs - complete except sashes for doors.Special Review meeting fixed for 26th November.

31st Oct 2006:
Work is progressing slowly and is behind schedule. 70' x 25' Blk - Plaster & cement render roof level - 100%. Assembly Hall roof - 100%, Plaster - 80%. Qtrs - complete except sashes for doors. Library furniture delivered to site.

15th Oct 2006:
Apex Committee had extensive discussions with Contractor and have offered him a range of incentives to complete work according to new timetable.

30st Sept 2006:
Contractor continues to stall offering various excuses. Apex Comm had lengthy discussions with Contractor and have agreed on a new time frame for completion of work.

15th Sept 2006:
Contractor to meet with Apex Committee in late September to discuss reasons for long delay and slow pace of work.

31st Aug 2006:
Work pace is very slow and not acceptable. Only around 20 workers on site. Apex Comm to issue ultimatum to contractor.

15th Aug 2006:
Work continues to progress very slowly owing to reduced workforce following security concerns in the area. Project staff is monitoring situation on daily basis.

Work pace has picked up a bit but is still not to acceptable levels. Contractor has ensured optimum workforce will be in operation by end of the month.

Paperwork approved and contract awarded. Demolition work already in progress. Foundation to commence by 20th August.

Award of contract delayed. Expect Foundation laying and construction work to begin by 10th Aug.

30 June 2005:
Await final paperwork from contractor for awarding of tender. Expect to commence construction in mid July.

21 April 2005:
Preliminary designs and estimates have been forwarded to the Apex Committee for evaluation and award of contract.

7 Feb 2005:
Work has begun to clean out school premises and make preliminary inspections.
Expect to have initial estimates and BOQ’s in hand by last week February.
