PROGRESS REPORTS
15th June 2006:
Work is now on at a feverish pace. Overall 98% of construction work has now been completed. Landscaping in progress. Opening ceremony fixed for 25th June 2006.

31st May 2006:
Work pace has now picked up. Roof of Assembly Hall blk still not complete. Overall 95% of work has now been completed. Target completion date mid June. Landscaping in progress. Opening ceremony fixed for 25th June 2006.

15th May 2006:
Work pace has slowed down disappointingly with reduced workforce. Roof of Assembly Hall blk still not complete. Overall 90% of work has now been completed. Target completion date 10th June. Opening ceremony fixed for 24th June 2006.

30th April 2006:
Work has recommenced after the new year holidays but the pace of work has slowed down owing to reduced workforce at site. Target date for completion is now end May.

7th April 2006:
The construction site will be closed for the period 8-20 April for the local New Year holidays. Next update will be as at 30th April 2006.

31st Mar 2006:
Work is on at a good pace and is on schedule to be completed by 1st week May. Assembly Hall F Fl columns 50%.Home Science Blk - roof portals -100%.

15th Mar 2006:
Work pace has increased with the introduction of additional workforce.Overall 85% of work is now complete. New school is scheduled to be completed before the local New Year holiday in mid April.

28th Feb 2006:
Work continues to progress well and to schedule.Assembly Hall work upto slab level-100% Toilet Blks roof -50%. Home Science & Admin Blk GF plastering 100%.

15th Feb 2006:
Work continues at a commendable pace and on schedule. Home Science & Admin Blk almost complete. Toilet Blk upto Roof level - 100%. Finishes being done on Aesthetic Unit and Staff Qtrs.

31st Jan 2006:
Work is progressing satisfactorily Assembly Hall - work upto slab level - 100%, Home Sc & Admin Blk GF plaster - 100%, Aesthetic Unit - 90%, Clssrm Blks 1,2,3 & 4 - Roof trusses - 100%, Tiles being laid.

15th Jan 2006:
Construction work progressing smoothly. Overall 68% of work completed. Target date for completion 31st March 2006.

31st Dec 2005:
Work continues to progress very well and on schedule. Overall 50% of work completed. Target date for completion 31st March 2006.

15th Dec 2005:
Work progressing smoothly and to schedule. Assembly Hall, Water Towers, Toilet blks - All brickwork upto roof level complete. Home Sc & Admin Blks - 1st flr columns 100% complete. Roof portal frames being done for Blks 1,2,3 & 4.

30th Nov 2005:
Work force strength has picked up again but work is now slightly behind schedule. Brick work upto roof level in all blocks complete.

15th Nov 2005:
Work pace slowed down slightly due to a reduction in workforce owing to a local holiday and the presidential elections but is still on schedule.Work in progress in all blocks of the school.

31st Oct 2005:
Work continues at a very good pace and is on schedule. Work is progressing on four Classroom Blocks,Admin and Assembly Hall Block and Staff Quarters simultaneously.

15th Oct 2005:
Work continues to progress well and on schedule. Work completed upto slab level in all blocks. Concreting to commence on 23rd Oct.

30th Sep 2005:
Work is progressing well and is on schedule.Foundations complete for admin block, staff quarters and three classroom blocks.

15th Sep 2005:
Construction work has begun and has progressed as per schedule. Full workforce is mobilised at site and materialk is also stockpiled.

31 August 2005:
Contract awarded. Foundation stone was laid on 28th August. Expect construction work to begin by first week of september.

15 August 2005:
Estimate received slightly higher than original estimate. Apex Committee is examining offer with a view to reduce costs. Expect to award contract by 25th August.

31 July 2005:
All paperwork has been completed and award to be made shortly. Expect Foundation laying by 15 August.

15 July 2005:
Paperwork from architect/contractor has been delayed. Expect to award contract in end July.Construction to begin by 15 August.

30 June 2005:
Await final drawings/estimate from architect/contractor. Expect to award contract in mid July.

21 April 2005:
Preliminary designs and estimates have been forwarded to the Apex Committee for evaluation and award of contract.

31 March 2005:
Total relocation of school is not necessary as adequate land has been identified within the premises of the school for the location of the new school building.

7 Feb 2005:
This is one of the schools that was totally destroyed by the tsunami and has to be relocated owing to its close proximity to the sea. Negotiations are presently underway with relevant Government officials and the Ministry of Education to identify a suitable block of land on which to relocate the school. If any state land is available progress will be faster than if private land has to be acquired by the state for this purpose.
