PROGRESS REPORTS
29th February 200:
A Soft opening was held in first week February with the Lead Club Rotarians and School Authorities in attendance. This will enable the students to make use of the new facilities.

31st January 2008:
A 'soft opening' of the new school will be held in first week February 2008. A formal ceremony will be held later when the representatives of the overseas sponsors are available.

31st December 2007:
Construction work now fully complete. Await confirmation from Sponsors and Apex Committee re official opening date.

30th November 2007:
Work on the school is now almost complete with only some landscaping to be done.

31st October 2007:
Work has progressed well and has reached the final stages with mainly painting to be done and few finishing touches. Overall 95% is now complete.

15th August 2007:
Momentum of work was affected with Contractor concentrating his time and resources at second school which is now almost complete. Target completion date now revised to end October 2007.

15th July 2007:
"Work pace has slowed down as Contractor concentrating on second school. UNIT-1 –Overall-80%; UNIT-2- Overall -80%;UNIT-3 - Overall-60%. Corridors- -Overall- 85%;Boundary Wall- Overall--85%. Target date of 15 August 2007 will have to be revised."

30th June 2007:
Work pace has picked up appreciably. Wiring, -40%,Rendering -80% in all Buildings. UNIT-1 – Roof-100%; UNIT-2- Roof -100%;UNIT-3 -Roof not done Con. Corridors- -Overall- 80%; Overall--85% complete. Target end date 15 August 2007.

15th June 2007:
Work pace has slowed down considerably - minimal progress in last two weeks. 40% wiring complete. Conecting corridors - 1st flr slab - plaster 100%. Boundary wall - 85% complete.

15th May 2007:
Pace of work is still disappointingly slow. Unit 1 - roof steel at site. Units 2 & 3 - render 1st & 2nd flrs - 100%, carpentry - 20%.

30 April 2007:
Reduced workforce at site following warning to Sinhala labour to vacate area. Contractor has about 40% Sinhala labour but is making alternate arrangements and iss till hopeful of completing school by end July.

07 April 2007:
Site will be closed from 8-23 April for the local New Year holidays. Next Progress report will be on 30th April 2007.

31 Mar 2007:
The pace of work is still disappointingly slow but contractor is still hopeful of completing all work by end June.

Work now in progress but at slow pace. 4 storeyed Blk footing - 75% complete.

Work re-commenced after inspection by Project Engineer.

15th Feb 2006:
Work temporarily suspended pending inspection by MoE Engineer.

31st Jan 2006:
Work is progressing at reasonable pace. All demolition is complete. Work on foundations have begun.

15th Jan 2006:
Workforce is mobilised at site and demolition work in progress to prepare for construction. Need to construct few temporary sheds away from the work site to accommodate students.

31st Dec 2005:
Contractor had a change of heart and resubmitted fresh quote at very competitive rate and was awarded tender.

15th Dec 2005:
Apex Committee have decided to call for fresh tenders after contractor refused to reduce his rates.

30th Nov 2005:
Contractor's prices still comparatively high and Apex Committee has requested him to revise his estimate downwards or lose tender.

15th Nov 2005:
Award of tender delayed slightly. Expect to have all paperwork complete by end November.

31st Oct 2005:
All paperwork now complete. Expect award of tender and mobilisation of workforce to commence by third week November after Presidential elections.

15th Oct 2005:
Structural drawings and BOQ require further amendments. Expect to finalise paperwork within a week.

30th Sep 2005:
Finalisation of tender delayed unexpectedly. Intend to finalise by mid October and lay foundation stone.

15th Sep 2005:
Progress has slipped. Award of tender has been delayed for another week. Expect finalise by end September.

Drawings completed and submitted to MoE for final approval. Hope to award tender and start work by 15th September.
